I am committed to making high-quality mental health care accessible for anyone living in California. Thus, all psychotherapy services are provided via telehealth to meet my patients where they are. I provide these services with the same commitment to my values and therapeutic integrity as if I were with you in person.

Insurance

Providing services “Out of Network.”

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. While I do not bill insurance companies directly, I am happy to provide you with a proof of payment, also called a superbill, to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please contact your provider to verify if and how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services prior to beginning services. I CANNOT guarantee reimbursement from your insurance. You are responsible for completing all required insurance forms for reimbursement and all payments are due prior to the time of service.

Ask these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  • Do I have “Out of Network” benefits?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and have I met it yet? This is the amount you need to pay out of pocket before insurance will start reimbursing you.

  • What is my reimbursement rate? Most companies will pay a percentage. For example, you would pay 40% and they would reimburse 60% of the session costs after meeting your deductible.

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

  • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician for services to be covered?

  • Are telehealth sessions reimbursed?

Fees

In general, fees for individual therapy range are $200 -$250 per session. Most clients attend weekly sessions. When there is a low fee slot available, I offer a sliding scale based upon financial need. I will discuss with you during your phone consultation, the fees associated with expected services and answer any questions that you may have.

Disclaimer for Good Faith Estimate for Cash Pay and Out of Network Patients

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers are required to inform individuals who do not have insurance or are not seeking a claim with their plan or coverage, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges for health care items and services.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) explaining the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for services. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. It does not take into account any reimbursement that you may receive as a result of out-of-network benefits. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur.

If you receive a bill of at least $400 more than this Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. You may contact Dr. Christina Marie Ortiz to let her know the billed charges are higher than the Good Faith Estimate. You can ask her to update the bill to match the Good Faith Estimate, negotiate the bill or ask if financial assistance is available.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Payment is due 24-hours prior to the time of services. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover are accepted forms of payment.
